Welcome to Rhythm & Groove Dance Academy, your premier destination for immersive and authentic training in classical dance classes and modern movement arts. We are more than just a dance school; we are a vibrant community dedicated to preserving, promoting, and evolving the art of dance.
At the heart of our academy is a deep reverence for India’s rich artistic heritage. We take immense pride in being recognized as a leading institution for learning Odissi Dance, one of the eight principal Indian classical dance traditions.
Odissi Dance, originating from the temples of Odisha, is a profound form of worship and storytelling. It is characterized by its mesmerizing Tribhangi (three-bend) posture and the graceful Chauka (square) stance, which contrast beautifully with dynamic footwork (padabheda) and expressive hand gestures (mudras). Our curriculum, designed by internationally acclaimed gurus, focuses on a holistic approach:
Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, born on January 8, 1926, in Raghurajpur, Odisha, was the pioneering founder of Odissi dance. His dedication and innovative choreography brought this classical dance form to national and international acclaim. He was honored with numerous awards, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 2000. His legacy continues to inspire generations of dancers
